|Communication Meeting for the Win-Win Cooperation between the University and Media Based on the “Belt and Road” Initiative Is Held in the School of Communication|
At 10 AM, November 17, the communication meeting was held in Room210, Building3 of Mingde in Chenggong campus, which aimed at the win-win cooperation between the University and media in the context of the “Belt and Road” initiative. This meeting was presided by Zou Jianda, Executive Vice-President of our School, with its attendance including Jiang Yongwen, President of Yunnan Normal University; He Xuelian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yunnan Chinese Language and Culture College; Zhang Wei, Minister of the Publicity Department; He Xiangzhao, Director of the Division of Assets; Ma Na, Vice-Director of Office of International Relations; party leaders and delegation of teachers and students of our School; and representatives from Yunnan Branch of the Xinhua News Agency, Yunnan Branch of China News Service, Yunnan Office of TaKongBao of Hong Kong, Yunnan Daily Press Group, Yunnan TV, Kunming TV, Yunnan University Press, Publicity Department of Pingbian County Party Committee, Yunnan Overseas Cultural and Educational Center and Federation of Cultural Industry in Yunnan Province.
President Jiang pointed out that the “Belt and Road” initiative was the powerful engine to facilitate the development of coastal areas, and we should also look for the opportunities from it to build the destiny community of mutual-trust policy, integrated economy and inclusive culture based on the economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. Yunnan Normal University should look for the best fit and the main focus for its development in the “Belt and Road” initiative. It would be the effective way to seek the multi-project cooperation with media for Yunnan Normal University to move toward internationalization.
Xiong Yongxiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Communication, introduced the School’s development from its educational scale, achievements in scientific research, management mode, personnel training, social service and other aspects, and hoped to achieve win-win cooperation through communicating with present media and enterprises in personnel training and integration of university and media.
Representatives from Yunnan Daily Press Group and Yunnan Branch of the Xinhua News Agency exchanged views with leaders of concerned Schools about training the talents needed by media during its external development at present. Specifically, representatives from Yunnan Branch of China News Service, Yunnan TV and Yunnan University Press gave their valuable advice on certain issues that have troubled the media and its subsidiaries in their development in South and Southeast Asia, such as talent demand, modes of communication, etc.
RenXinmin, Director of Yunnan Office of TaKongBao of Hong Kong, mentioned when introducing the transformation strategy for the journalism practice fields under the background of the “Belt and Road” initiative that the practice platform could be set up in their Office for the campus press personnel, which would enable students to broaden their horizon and develop their professional skills. Xu Shan, Head of New Media Department of Kunming TV, expressed his opinions on the wide application of new media and what the university should pay attention to on the training of talents needed by new media. Dong Haiyan, Standing Vice-Secretary of Federation of Cultural Industry in Yunnan Province, believed that in the context of the “Belt and Road” and it would acquire a fruitful result if we provide more professional services from the level of college or school while making full use of students’ creative thinking.
Mr. Zhang Wei stated that the cooperation between university and media could achieve platform sharing, complementary advantages, resource interoperability, talent exchange and mutual reciprocity. It is helpful to build training base for talents needed by news system and media management in South and Southeast Asia, to build training base with innovated mode and vivid characteristic for applied talents, to build the platform for the interaction between educational circle and industry, and the integration between media and universities under the background of the “Belt and Road” initiate.
President Jiang fully affirmed the value of the meeting, hoping that each department could summarize their own problems seriously, accept advice soundly, fulfill plans and make reflection constantly so as to create conditions for further promoting the deep-cooperation between university and media through this meeting.
University-media cooperation is a kind of school -running pattern adapted to social and economic development as well as coordinated with education reform. This communication meeting converged on the wisdom to explore how to cooperate with media for universities in Yunnan in order to promote the external communication for Yunnan with Southeast and South Asia under the background of “Belt and Road” initiative. What’s more, this pattern elevated the cooperation level between Yunnan Normal University and media and publicity departments in Yunnan, enriching their partnerships, enhancing their ability of international cooperation and exchanges with Southeast and South Asian countries, which would make contributions to the construction of “Belt and Road” initiative.
The success of the meeting not only embodied the school-running level and comprehensive strength of the School of Communication, but also reflected our firm goals to "going global" and "cultivating high-level innovative applied talents with international vision".
